This summer has been a scorcher, and we’ve found that the best way to cool off is with a huge bowl of ice cream. From gelato to cookie dough to giant sundaes served in a kitchen sink (really), there are plenty of delicious ice cream shops near our new homes in Elgin and Naperville. So next time you need to cool down, grab a scoop from one of our favorite ice cream shops!

Andy’s serves up a delicious menu of sundaes, concretes, and seasonal treats, like Key Lime Pie Concrete – Andy’s vanilla frozen custard blended with a slice of key lime pie. They use the freshest ingredients and the custard is always served within one hour after it is made. No wonder it’s our Overstreet Builders House Favorite!

What started as a modest milk delivery service over 100 years ago has grown into a huge operation of delivery service of all dairy products in 6 states and over 50 dairy stores. Stores feature a menu of sundaes, a dozen flavors of ice cream in additional to seasonal flavors, soft serve and creamy milkshakes, made with their very own fresh cream and milk.

There is no other place where you can find an authentic Italian gelato near Chicago. All gelato equipment, display cases, and ingredients (with the exception of milk and sugar) are imported from Italy, transporting you to a genuine Italian gelateria. Over 50 gelato flavors and more than 20 sorbet flavors are made fresh in store daily.

This full-service cafe also has a huge ice cream menu filled with treats like sundaes, splits and a dozen flavors. Feeling really hungry? Try the Colonial Kitchen Sink — a huge sundae with two bananas, six scoops of ice cream and a handful of toppings that literally comes in a kitchen sink. Finish it all and you get a bumper sticker!
