It’s officially summertime! There is plenty to do in Naperville, Elgin and Chicago, including kayaking, paddle boarding, golfing and off-roading. Here are our favorite local summer activities.
Centre of Elgin Recreation Facility in Elgin
The Centre offers a variety of camps to keep your kids entertained all summer long! Summer Camp offers games, sports, crafts, swimming, weekly field trips, and more; Sports Camp has different sports and games and includes weekly field trips, swimming and more; Teen Leaders offers two weekly field trips and meaningful activities that help campers learn how to become a positive force in the community, and Camp Sunshine for the youngest campers.
Naperville Kayak in Naperville
Rent a kayak at the Naperville Paddle Boat Quarry in downtown Naperville and spend the day exploring the quarry. Naperville Kayak rentals include brief instruction, the kayak, paddle, and personal floatation device. They also offer Wednesday night and Saturday morning kayaking classes, as well as private parties.
Chicago SUP in Chicago
Chicago Stand-Up Paddleboard offers rentals, lessons for beginners, paddle board yoga, expeditions exploring Lake Michigan at night, and wakeboarding and wakesurfing. There is no better way to experience Lake Michigan and take in the iconic Chicago Skyline.
Raging Waves, just a few miles west of Naperville, is Illinois’ largest waterpark and is an Overstreet favorite! Spawning over 45 acres in Yorkville, Raging Waves hosts a huge wave pool, lazy river, kiddie play structure, sandy beach areas, private cabana rentals, over 15 water slides and much, much more! Raging Waves has something the whole family will enjoy.
Congo River Adventure Golf in Hoffman Estates
This Congo River-themed miniature golf course has two options: the rapids course or the waterfalls course. Choose one or play both! Search for ancient artifacts along the way; find them all to win a prize!
Seven Bridges Golf Clubin Woodridge
Seven Bridges earned a 4-Star rating by Golf Digest and features 100-year-old oaks, picturesque lily pad ponds, and, of course, at least seven bridges.
The Cliffs Insane Terrain Off Road Park in Marseilles
This 300-acre off-road park offers several trails for ATVS, dirt bikes, utility task vehicles (UTVs), three wheelers, trucks, Jeeps and go carts.
