Looking for another activity to enjoy the gorgeous warm weather outside? Being in the suburbs and so close to Chicago’s bustling streets and shops and bigger stages, it’s sometimes hard to find that perfect activity. Well, we’re here to help! July was national picnic month! What better way to get out of the house and enjoy the area you live in than a picnic? Here are some great spots right in Chicago, each with a different vibe and feel for the city’s character, and not too far from Overstreet homes.
The Jay Pritzker Pavilion has several live music shows, and modern architecture that is sure to excite. Bring your own food and beverage, and enjoy a picnic full of music and fun!
If you’re looking for a more relaxed scene, check out Promontory Point Park. Here there are several great lawn spots by the water, great bike trails, and fire pits (these are first come first serve, but can be reserved in advance through the park district). As a matter of fact, this is the only place on lakefront where fire pits are permitted, so don’t forget all the fixings for s’mores!
Ping Tom Memorial Park is another great place to go for a picnic. Ping Tom Memorial Park’s 12-acre site was originally a Chicago and Western Indiana Railroad yard, and is surrounded by Chinatown’s architecture. It’s a great place for families or just a date with a change of scenery.
