Winter has finally arrived in the Chicago suburbs! We know how much our Overstreet homeowners love to cozy up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa, but who doesn’t enjoy a fun day of tubing down the slopes or gliding across an ice rink. We’ve put together a list of the best spots for winter sports and snow day activities near our Overstreet communities. Bundle up snow day fun!
Less than a half hour drive from our Ashwood Park community awaits the slopes of Mount Hoy. The 800-foot ride down the hill at Blackwell Forest Preserve is sure to satisfy the winter thrill seeker in us all. Watch the weather forecast for the best time to go tubing. The slopes are only open for three inches of snow or more.
Take your snow day up a notch. Bypass the tubing and head to Four Lakes Alpine Snowsports, just minutes away from our Hidden Creek community in Naperville. Whether you’re a highly experienced skier or the first time snowboarder, make your way to this frozen playground before the season ends.
The slopes at Rotary are one of the best and well-known snow tubing spots in Naperville. Perfect for night time tubing, this is the only sled hill in town that’s lit after dark. Get there early to beat the crowds. The lines to zip down the snowy hill can be pretty long during peak hours. Sledders should bring their inner tubes or plastic sleds.
Now open for the 2018-2019 Winter Sports season, Villa Olivia is the perfect winter getaway. The hill includes seven runs, a chairlift, six rope tows, and a massive tubing hill. Head inside to warm up and refuel at the Ski Cafe after a long day on the slopes.
There’s something for beginners and experts at this family-friendly ice skating rink. From ice hockey to figure skating, you’ll find no better program to introduce your kids to the ice. Taught by the experts, the United States Figure Skating Association of Basic Skills sanctioned Centennials Learn to Skate Program.
Make the best of the snow days near your Overstreet home!
